Mid Century 0.63 Carat Transitional Cut Diamond Engagement Ring, circa 1950
A truly lovely vintage diamond engagement ring. The transitional cut diamond - graded by De Beers as G colour, SI2 clarity - is impressively white, bright and lively. The stone is secured by six split claws in a platinum collet. Slim, spear-shaped shoulders are set with six (three each side) eight-cut diamonds, leading to a slender platinum shank.Â
Although De Beers have described the cut as Round Brilliant, the diamond has many characteristics of an Old European Cut - slightly smaller table, cut culet, burnished girdle - making this a transitional cut (a very rare cut that bridged old European cut and round brilliant) rather than a modern round brilliant.Â
Currently size J 1/2 (UK) or 5 (US). Free sizing available.
Accompanied by a De Beers Institute of Diamonds grading report. A unique number has been inscribed on this diamond providing utmost security.
